The Toyota Sprinter was a compact car manufactured by the Japanese automaker Toyota. The Sprinter was an upmarket version of the Toyota Corolla and was sold exclusively for the Japanese market. A sporty AE86 coupe was available and called the Trueno. The Sprinter was equipped with 4-cylinder engines, 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmissions. The Sprinter was sold in the United States as the Chevrolet Nova and the Geo Prizm.
The Nova and Prizm were manufactured in Fremont, California by NUMMI, a joint venture between Toyota and General Motors.
